Helpful video. This quick-moving video offers a wealth of tips for painting both wood board and shingle siding. It includes subjects such as how to properly raise and safely use a tall extension ladder, paint scraping techniques, and more.
Paint costs $15 to $50 per gallon on average and covers up to 400 square feet per can. Professional painters buy paint up to 50% less than homeowners. To calculate how much paint you need, times the wall length by its height and subtract for any doors, windows, or unpaintable areas.
It seems easy enough. Open a can of paint, dip a paint brush in it and start painting your wall.
Masonry walls, including brick and concrete, can be painted. First clean them with a solution of TSP (tri-sodium phosphate) or a phosphate-free alternative. Wear rubber gloves and safety glasses or goggles while mixing and applying the solution. Rinse the area thoroughly.
Painting the exterior of your house is the most cost-effective home remodeling project if you hire the right exterior painters. Imagine, for a nominal cost, completely changing the colors and look of your home! By simply painting your home with modern, updated hues, it will change so much that your friends and neighbors will do a double take when passing your house.
There were a couple things that needed to be done before I even started thinking about painting. Since the house was built in 1921, I wanted to check for lead. You can find lead testers in any home improvement store. I followed the directions on the label, did some tests, and found that the house was lead free! That was a relief because removing lead is a huge hassle, requiring professionals, special suits, and more tests. No thank you. If you do happen to test for lead and it shows positive, you can contact the national lead hotline, which should get you on the right track for proper removal. Fortunately we were able to bypass that entire process.
In Mark Twain's classic "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," Tom tricks his friends into painting his aunt's fence. You probably won't get that lucky, but there are good reasons many homeowners keep their painting in-house. No building codes apply to interior decoration; if you do something dumb, you don't risk life and property as you would if you were, say, tackling a rewiring job; and because labor typically accounts for 80 to 85 percent of the price of a paint job, you'll save a ton by doing the work yourself.
thanks so much Ayana and we appreciate your business. Look forward to working in the future with you your husband and Nick thanks again.
The painters themselves were so pleasant to work with. It's a family business, so the number of people working on any day varies, but at least 3 men were onsite at any time. They work quietly between 8:30 and 5, and they work through the weekend, even Sunday, to complete the job. Exterior painting on my 1600+ sq ft home took about 5 days.
