Prep work for old homes can be especially difficult. Poor prep work on an exterior will mean needing to re-paint sooner (sometimes literally within 1-2 years), which will cost far more time and money than doing it correctly in the first place. In fact, a good professional paint company may use more than half of the entire project time preparing a surface to paint. Trust the process; this time could be difference in hundreds of hours and dollars. .
This ACN Painting, LLC website has bright brand colors on the icons. In particular, designers use fire-engine red to help make the text pop out. The call to action invitation is strategically placed both at the top and bottom of the homepage.
At Three Brothers Painting, one of our most-asked questions during our house painting estimates with our clients is, “What’s the best way to choose a paint color?” The truth is, every client’s color preferences are different, so it really depends on what colors...
While exterior paints cost more, it costs a bit more to paint a home interior versus the exterior. This cost difference is due to the complexity of the different rooms and the number of different spaces that need painting versus a consistent exterior wall. Plus, interiors usually have to be painted by hand or by roller, which is more labor intensive. Exterior paint can be sprayed. It costs approximately $8,700 to paint a home interior and about $5,500 a home exterior.

There were a couple things that needed to be done before I even started thinking about painting. Since the house was built in 1921, I wanted to check for lead. You can find lead testers in any home improvement store. I followed the directions on the label, did some tests, and found that the house was lead free! That was a relief because removing lead is a huge hassle, requiring professionals, special suits, and more tests. No thank you. If you do happen to test for lead and it shows positive, you can contact the national lead hotline, which should get you on the right track for proper removal. Fortunately we were able to bypass that entire process.

When buying paintbrushes, don’t skimp on quality. A well-made brush will make your work much easier and more successful. A quality paintbrush has many different lengths of bristles with split ends (yes, just like hair) that allow the brush to hold more paint. A wooden handle secures tightly packed bristles.
• Mostly walls or woodwork? A roller makes quick work of unobstructed walls. Rooms with wide baseboards, elaborate window casings and cornice molding at the ceiling demand more time and effort. A lot of trim means a lot of brushwork — even more so if the job includes cabinets and shelves — and edges into the realm of professionals.
• Inside or outside? Inside, there are solid floors, reachable ceilings and uniformly bright working light. Outside, uneven ground makes it difficult to set ladders and reach roof overhangs. Nature isn't your friend here, either: Dew can cause paint-adhesion problems, and rain can ruin still-wet paint.
Stucco siding can be spray painted, but you will get better paint adhesion by applying paint with a roller that has a nap suitable for the wall’s texture. The heavier the texture, the thicker the roller’s nap should be.
After living and breathing all things paint and color for so many years (literally!), I have learned quite a bit about the topic, and I will now share it all here with you.
