Can't say enough good things about these painters. Mr. Lee's team of O, Jeff, and Chris were exceptional. For metal siding, use medium-grade sandpaper on a sanding block. Sand any chipped or peeling paint until the surface is smooth. Remove any chalking or dust with a clean rag.
Josh, some great work on the renovation, it’s come up really nicely! It’s good to see you stressing the importance of not taking short cuts when it comes to prepping and removing wallpaper. It definitely does lead to more problems down the road when done incorrectly. However there is a caveat on that. If the wallpaper is in good condition and you have primed it properly, you can get away with painting over wallpaper. On a few jobs where the client has been on a tight budget, we have used an oil based primer to really seal the adhesive and keep then moisture from the paint away. Has worked well and we haven’t got any call backs. But I’d still agree with you and always push for stripping back wallpaper where possible. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure as the saying goes. Also, would love to see how your painted popcorn ceilings came up. We call it ‘vermiculite’. We have left many messages for him to come out and fix the problem, he gave us a warranty incase this type of thing happened. We bought the best paint and primer the problem was in the prep work, that's why its peeling off of the house. Basically 3500 bucks down the tube be aware his warranty is worthless...
Tony is a magician with a paintbrush and a roller. I bought the Painter For A Day promotion back in the Fall and finally scheduled my day for mid-April (my own doing). Tony transformed my daughter’s bright blue room into a serene, whitish-blue getaway. With tall ceilings and some tricky corners, Tony did it by himself all in less than 8 hours. I got several quotes from painters in the area to paint my house. One guy was almost a no show to the estimate (only came hours late after I called him) and took weeks to provide me with a quote, another guy was just too new and had no reviews or portfolio. I agree completely — never paint over wallpaper! My house is very old and the original owners had wallpaper (layer upon layer) in every room in the house — even the bathrooms. Then the last owner painted over the wallpaper. Yikes! What a mess. So glad most of it is gone but it was a chore. Thanks for the great tips to painting the house.
