I agree completely — never paint over wallpaper! My house is very old and the original owners had wallpaper (layer upon layer) in every room in the house — even the bathrooms. Then the last owner painted over the wallpaper. Yikes! What a mess. So glad most of it is gone but it was a chore. Thanks for the great tips to painting the house. Quality tools are key (and patience). Skylar Mitchell February 25, 2015
If you want to make a dramatic change or enhance the appearance of your home, inside and out, you will likely pay $677 to $26,000. On the low end, $677 represents an economy paint job on the interior and exterior of an average-sized tiny home, just 225 sq.ft. On the high end, $26,000 represents high-quality paints used outside and inside an average-sized traditional home of 2,600 sq.ft. These figures assume a cost of $2 to $6 per sq.ft. for the inside of your home and $1.50 to $4 per sq.ft. for the outside of your home.

Use soap and water to clean up latex paints, and paint thinner to clean up alkyd paints. Clean your brushes and gear right after painting. Do not ever pour paint thinner or excess paint down the drain or onto the ground—this is a very serious source of ground-water pollution. Keep old paint and solvents in an old sealed paint can, and dispose of it at a toxic-waste collection site. Once all the walls were patched, repaired, dry, and sanded it was time to spray on the primer. Using the sprayer took some getting used to. If you do have a big project ahead of you and decide to buy or rent a sprayer, here are a few tips I (as an amateur) would pass on to you when it comes to using a sprayer:
Painting hides mold spots on your wall, but it will not kill it. Even if you’re keen on finding a quick fix for mold in your home, painting is not the way to do it. It is simply a temporary solution that allows the issue to spread. Your best choice will be to hire a mold remediation expert. Removing mold from your drywall before painting can cost anywhere from $1,500 to $3,500, depending on if you need a simple treatment or a more complex solution for an entire wall.
We were pleased with all aspects of our Kelly Brothers job. The bid process was painless, the price was as expected, the color consultant was helpful, the 3 painters were careful, prompt, detailed, and worked very hard atop 2-story ladders for two weeks. Thanks to painters Luis, Simon, & Pancho!

I hired three brothers to come out for three days to paint my entire condo top to bottom with new paint on the walls. Oscar gave me a professional estimate with a great bottom line price for the work. The crew worked FAST, were polite and careful with all my stuff. The quality of their work exceeded my expectations and I’m extremely happy with the work. My place looks BRAND NEW! Thanks Three Brothers!!

Joe is a very nice guy, but he overpromised, overcharged, and seriously underdelivered. He was the most expensive option, but I figured he would do a good job. When he came out to the house, he said he would fix some issues with the walls and a previous paint job...
