When it comes to removing lead from your home, it’s important to have a professional on your side. While it is possible to paint over lead paint, it has to be done in a specific way to effectively cover the potentially dangerous lead paint. This process is known as encapsulation. Regular water-based or oil-based paints won’t work. Instead, you’ll need to use paints specifically called “encapsulants.” Other methods may be used to remove lead paint, and each one has a different price tag. The process can cost anywhere from $8,000 to $15,000. .

The E and E Painting, LLC website is consistently simple and well arranged. Designers chose a bright yet mostly monochromatic image of a painted kitchen to span about a third of the homepage. The use of different colors as you scroll down the home page also helps create the vibrancy needed to brand a painting company.
The next option was using oil based primer. That stuff is not fun to work with. The fumes are not fun to work around (be sure to open windows!), and you can’t wash it off without using more chemicals. Fortunately somebody suggested we try bleaching the stains, which sounded a bit more feasible and manageable. So we tried it. Dawning coveralls and face masks, and armed with a pump garden sprayer filled with diluted bleach (mostly water with a couple capfuls of bleach), we attacked the stains. After a couple spray downs, the yellow started to disappear! For a couple of days, we misted the ceiling, waited a couple hours and repeated. Most stains were taken care of, the rest were dissolved enough to prime over.

For best adhesion, brush-on the primer. Using a 4-inch brush for siding or a 2-inch brush for trim, work from the top down, brushing in line with the siding’s grain. Brush out any drips or splatters.

To remove any loose paint from a smooth stucco surface, use a scraper as discussed above. If the surface is textured, remove loose paint with a wire brush. Then, regardless of whether the surface is smooth or textured, give the stucco surface some “tooth” for new paint to grip by “scratching” it with a wire brush.
