A disk sander takes off the most material the fastest, but can also leave swirl marks. Use a disk sander if you want to get down to the original wood in a hurry. A random-orbit sander is a more subtle, controlled choice.
It takes skill and nerve to paint the old structures. Some of the houses rise a good distance from the ground and the architectural designs make for interesting corners and angles. I respect the work these guys do, and they earn every penny we pay them. Animandel March 12, 2014

Kelly B staff was so good. My old and worn deck was refinished and looks terrific. The Color consultant helped me choose the right product and color. I will be back when house needs to be painted.
This company began by painting the side of our house when they were supposed to be painting the walls inside of our screened patio. we never showed them the side of our house -- never discussed it yet they blamed this mistake on us. They then painted over the holes where the screws to a hurricane shutters go. Next they painted the ceiling of our patio green instead of white and got paint on the pool patio screens. This company promised to paint our driveway and garage floor, even after being asked about proper preparation, they assured us they knew what they were doing and we now cannot use our driveway or a garage floor without pulling the paint up with our tires. I do not recommend them!

Once work begins, hold brief daily meetings to discuss the job and schedule and quash any misunderstandings. If there are surprises, seek middle ground. No contract can anticipate every possibility. Materials may be unavailable. Large chunks of rotten siding may crumble along with the old paint. Exterior jobs may be stopped cold by a week of steady rain. But know that you’ll pay extra if you change your mind about a color after the trim is already painted or otherwise add tasks to the project.

The work is great – if there are any imperfections, the crew is happy to fix them. The crews are respectful and friendly and the prices are fair for the work. “Provided base coat for a never-painted large, garage, two coats of paint, power wahed walls and garage floor, and painted the floor of the garage. Excellent. Garage looked like new. Also completed some trim work that had never been done. Entire job was completed on time and at exact cost. Peter Smith supervises the work himself. He stands by his work. If any touch up is needed, he is there. I highly recommend him. Five years ago, Peter Smith painted the exterior of my house (4,000 square feet). He just came back to do some touch-up work. His charge for the touch-up work was reasonable and it will postpone the need for another house painting for at least 2 more years. To me, that is a great job!!”
Very sloppy workmanship. The owner was not always available except to accept our checks. Texting was his specialty. After completion we called him back for a repair and re-finish he wanted to charge $75.00 We said no way Sorry that we did not use the previous painters used on our other home

I was able to get an estimate appointment for exterior painting fairly quickly, and James arrived on time and gave me a sense of confidence with the company. Unlike other estimators who simply looked around the property and then tell me to look out for the estimate via email, James took some time to present the company's credentials and explain what the process would be like. He presented references and documents showing they were up to date on their workers comp insurance, and photos of the work in progress to demonstrate the process.
