Awesome post! I just wanted to add a couple tips about cleaning brushes that might be helpful. If you’re painting and are coming back for second coats later the same day, you can put your brush in a ziplock bag to keep it from drying out while you’re taking a break. When cleaning your brushes, use Murphy Oil Soap, it really helps to get the paint off and is eco friendly. You can even soak brushes in it and clean them later on if you’re a giant procrastinator like I am 🙂 I love following your progress with this house and am so stoked to see the finished product! Cheers and have a great day! Alexandra February 25, 2015 Jill @ Champagne for Everyday February 25, 2015

The quick answer is there are none if you want a house painting job that will last for years. If you or a professional house painter cut corners it will show.
While exterior paints cost more, it costs a bit more to paint a home interior versus the exterior. This cost difference is due to the complexity of the different rooms and the number of different spaces that need painting versus a consistent exterior wall. Plus, interiors usually have to be painted by hand or by roller, which is more labor intensive. Exterior paint can be sprayed. It costs approximately $8,700 to paint a home interior and about $5,500 a home exterior.
“Provided base coat for a never-painted large, garage, two coats of paint, power wahed walls and garage floor, and painted the floor of the garage. Excellent. Garage looked like new. Also completed some trim work that had never been done. Entire job was completed on time and at exact cost. Peter Smith supervises the work himself. He stands by his work. If any touch up is needed, he is there. I highly recommend him. Five years ago, Peter Smith painted the exterior of my house (4,000 square feet). He just came back to do some touch-up work. His charge for the touch-up work was reasonable and it will postpone the need for another house painting for at least 2 more years. To me, that is a great job!!”
Depending upon what you’re painting, you may not need all of these. For example, if you’re just painting trim, painter’s tape and a single drop cloth should suffice. When painting window trim, it can be easier and more accurate to mask-off the glass from the frame (if you have a steady hand, masking may be an unnecessary hassle). Masking tape or painter’s tape can make painting multi-lite windows a breeze. ©Don Vandervort, HomeTips
When buying paintbrushes, don’t skimp on quality. A well-made brush will make your work much easier and more successful. A quality paintbrush has many different lengths of bristles with split ends (yes, just like hair) that allow the brush to hold more paint. A wooden handle secures tightly packed bristles.

This company painted my house about one year ago. We have paint peeling off the exterior of the house now. We have left many messages for him to come out and fix the problem, he gave us a warranty incase this type of thing happened. We bought the best paint and primer the problem was in the prep work, that's why its peeling off of the house. Basically 3500 bucks down the tube be aware his warranty is worthless...
Higher ceilings result in larger wall spaces to paint that are harder to reach because of staggered step surfaces. This results in a wider cost range of anywhere from $490 to $940 to paint the walls in a home’s stairway area.
Having said that, preparation work or repair work can increase the price if you want the job done right. Prep work like patching holes, repairing cracks in drywall, replacing warped corner tape, and caulking gaps take time. However, theses tasks are essential in achieving great quality finishes.
